AP Exam Registration

Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Royal High School would like all students to take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.

For the 2017 AP exams, students at Royal High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.

Students will be asked to answer questions about whether or not they are also taking an IB exam. This is to help with the planning of conflicted schedules. To be clear, students will not be asked to pay for IB exams on this site. They will only be registering and paying for the AP exams.

This year each AP exam costs $93.00. Royal High School would like every student be able to take their AP exams. Students requiring financial assistance should contact Mr. Guzzo, matthew.guzzo@simivalleyusd.org, to learn more.

Online Exam registration will begin on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 8:00 AM and end on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11:59 PM. In order to register, students should visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/053379 to register. To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the PDF of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.

Royal High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment.

Important AP Exam Information

Exams begin at 8:00 AM (morning session) and 12:00 PM (afternoon session). During the month of April, students will receive a final schedule showing when and where to arrive for the scheduled exam on campus. If students expect a conflict due to an athletic event on the same day of a test, or an AP/IB exam conflict (i.e., two tests on the same day and at the same time), students must let Mr. Guzzo know immediately. Most tests are a minimum of 3 hours in length. However, this does not include signing in, seating, etc. Please plan accordingly with employers, rides, sports, etc.

Students SHOULD bring Students SHOULD NOT bring
  • Several sharpened #2 pencils with erasers.
  • Black or dark blue ballpoint pens.
  • A watch, in case your exam room does not have a clock that you can easily see.
  • AP-authorized calculator if you are taking Calculus, Physics, or Statistics.
  • A ruler or straightedge only if you are taking the AP Physics exam.
  • A jacket, in case the room temperature is below your comfort level.
  • Tissues, if you think you’ll need them.

You are required to arrive promptly at the time posted on the schedule.

  • Books, compasses, protractors, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters, colored pencils, mechanical pencils, or notes.
  • Rulers or straightedges (unless taking the AP Physics exam); no protractors.
  • Scratch paper – notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets.
  • Computers or calculators (unless AP-authorized for Calculus, Physics, or Statistics).
  • Watches that beep or have an alarm.
  • Clothing with subject-related information.
  • Electronic equipment (cell phone, smart phone, smart watch, laptop, tablet computer, iPad, etc.); portable listening or recording devices (MP player, iPad, etc.); cameras or other photographic equipment; devices that can access the Internet; and any other electronic or communication devices. You will be asked to place all such devices and backpacks in your locker prior to entering the testing room.

Students MAY NOT be dismissed until the exam has officially ended. Students will not be permitted to leave early for any reason.

Get a good night’s rest before your test, and eat a nutritious breakfast. Students are allowed to bring a snack and beverage for a 10-minute break which will need to be stored away from the exam area; however, eating is prohibited while students are taking the exam. Students are required to abide by the policies of both the College Board and Royal High School during the exam period. Any misconduct will be reported and could jeopardize the AP Exam grade.

Be sure to review the “AP Bulletin for Students and Parents” .
